Welcome! This short exhibit covers the history and operations of a long running environmental organization at Middlebury, Environmental Quality. Also referred to as EQ, Environmental Quality was the first major student organization to function primarily towards environmental causes. During its more than 30 years as a club on campus, EQ organized students around food waste, energy usage, pollution, and a myriad of other causes. Opening up with its beginnings as an offshoot of the Mountain Club, the exhibit highlights various endeavors EQ organized or took part in, and closes with a look at the club's final years, in which other student groups and organizations began to overtake the club, especially as greenhouse gas emissions and climate change began to take center stage in environmental circles.
